What I learned from these websites
Website Number 1: When American and Soviet troops entered concentration camps in 1945, they found many dead bodies. They also found thousands of survivors that were suffering from diseases. Many of the survivors feared to return to their regular homes because of the anti-Semitism. Some Jews feared for their lives because of the ant- Jewish riots that occurred. They had very few opportunities for emigration, the number of homeless Jews migrated to the western European territories. They were housed in hundreds of refugee centers and placed in camps such as Bergen-Belsen in Germany. The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration administered these camps. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee provided food and clothing for the survivors. The Organization for Rehabilitation through Training offered vocational training. Many labored to establish an independent Jewish State in Palestine. The largest survivor organization, Sh'erit ha-Pletah , pushed for more emigration opportunities for Jews.
Website Number 2: By the end of 1946 over 50,000 Jews had settled back in Lodz with the overwhelming majority having survived the Holocaust in the Soviet Union. Between 1946 and 1950 over half the city's Jewish population left Poland for Israel After the second wave of immigration to Israel during 1956- 1957, only a few thousand Jews remained In Poland. In 1968-69 all of the remaining Jews left Poland for Israel.
Website Number 3: For the survivors of this horrific event the scars and memories never fade.In the aftermath of the Holocaust, an extraordinary rebirth and renewal took place. There were a number of displaced person camps that were created. After the horrific events that took place, people were ready to start a new chapter in their lives. The Displaced Peron camps helped people rise from their downfall and move past it.
