What I have learned from these websites
Website Number 1: Hitler created a law called "Sterilization Law". This law was set to get rid of all the genetic defects in the German gene pool. This was not the first time that a country weeded out the people that were considered "abnormal". Before Hitler, the United States led the world in forced sterilizations. Between 1907 and 1939, more than 30,000 people in twenty-nine states were sterilized, many of them didn't know or they were forced. They were put in prisons or institutions for mentally ill people. The United States and Germany got this idea from eugenics. This theory was created by the Charles Darwin's principle of natural selection. Eugenics gave people the idea that this same process could be used with humans. They performed surgeries such as vasectomies and ligation of ovarian tubes of women. This killed thousands of people. Most of the people that were targeted in this process were people kept in mental institutions.
Website Number 2: Hitler stated that," Wartime was the best time for the elimination of the incurably ill." Many Germans didn't want to be reminded of the people in their country that did not measure up to their "master race." Hitler and other Germans saw mentally handicapped people as a "useless" part of society. They also felt that they were a threat to Aryan blood. At the start of World War II there was a process called"T-4," or "euthanasia," program. This process was the act of targeting the people that were mentally and physically disabled. This process was in need of full cooperation of most doctors. The doctors reviewed medical files and they would determine if a patient that was mentally ill should be killed or not.
Website Number 3: On the date October 1939 , Hitler signed a document that linked him directly to an action called " adult euthanasia". This was to kill all mentally or physically disabled patients. The reason Hitler signed the document was because it was proving hard for his subordinates to push forward with something as radical as the killing of the disabled without some kind of authorization. Hitler had a strong belief in "survival of the fittest" so he took this action to an extreme. He felt if these people didn't exist that the Nazi State would be much better off. Something similar happens later which is called the "Final Solution", this is the killing of all Jews. This time he is very careful not to leave a paper trail behind.
